Barge Boards & Gable Flashings
Barge Boards – Lateral Roof Finish with Protective and Design Functions
Our barge boards – also known as gable flashings, verge plates, or side trims – form the clean and weatherproof finish for the lateral edges of the roof.
They protect the roof construction from rain, snow, and wind, preventing moisture from penetrating beneath the roofing material.
In addition to functional protection, barge boards provide a visually appealing roof finish that emphasizes the roof’s lines and completes the overall appearance.
Function and Application
The barge board serves as a lateral cladding for the roof edge and ensures that wind and water do not get under the roofing. At the same time, it stabilizes the edge areas of the roof and protects against wind suction forces – an important contribution to the longevity and safety of the entire roof construction.
Our barge boards are suitable for:
-
Trapezoidal metal roofs
-
Standing seam sheets
-
Tile effect sheets (e.g., Mona, Arad, Germania)
-
Flat and pent roof finishes
Variants and Dimensions
We offer various versions to match your roofing system:
-
Standard Barge Board (2 m):
The proven classic for trapezoidal and tile effect roofs. Ideal for lateral sealing and visual enhancement.
-
Barge Board 150/150 (2 m):
With generous leg lengths for larger roof overhangs and stronger wind suction zones.
-
Barge Board for Standing Seam:
Specifically adapted for standing seam roofs for a precise connection without visual interruptions.
-
Aluminum Barge Board (Standard & 150/150):
Lightweight, corrosion-resistant variant – perfect for buildings in coastal or humid regions.
Custom dimensions and lengths up to 6 meters are available upon request – manufactured to the millimeter according to your specifications.
Materials and Coatings
Our barge boards are available in the same quality grades as our roofing sheets:
-
Aluzinc
-
Standard Polyester (25 µm)
-
Matt Coarse-Grain Polyester (35 µm)
-
PURLAK® (50 µm) / PURMAT® (50 µm)

Color Options
Our barge boards are available in many RAL colors. Popular shades include RAL 7016 (Anthracite Grey), RAL 8017 (Chocolate Brown), RAL 9006 (White Aluminum), and RAL 3009 (Oxide Red). This allows the barge board to match the ridge, eaves, and wall connections perfectly.
Advantages of Our Barge Boards
- Reliable protection of roof edges against moisture, wind, and corrosion
- Increased stability and protection against wind uplift
- Custom-fit manufacturing for trapezoidal, standing seam, and tile profiles
- Durable coatings for maximum resistance
- Harmonious color and material matching with roof and facade
- Custom dimensions up to 6 m on request
Installation and Assembly
Barge boards are installed overlapping along the roof edge (approx. 5–10 cm). Fastening is done with color-matched self-drilling screws or blind rivets. For optimal sealing, we recommend using profile fillers or toothed strips.
Summary
Our barge boards combine functionality, durability, and design. They protect sensitive roof edges reliably from the elements while providing an aesthetic finish. Available in steel or aluminum with high-quality coatings – the right solution for every roof.
